Dagshai

Dagshai is situated in the Solan District and is located a few km. away from Barog. It is one of the oldest cantonment towns and is located on a hillock, which is 5,689 ft high. The name Dagshai was derived from ‘DAGG-E-SHAHI’, which was a mark put on the forehead of criminals during the Mughal era. 

After being marked with this symbol, the criminals were sent to the then Dagshai village. The attraction also contains a graveyard that overlooks a valley and dates from the British era. Dagshai Central Jail is still present within this village.

Shivalik Fossil Park

Shivalik Fossil Park, also known as the Suketi Fossil Park , is a fossil park with a collection of prehistoric vertebrate fossils and skeletons recovered from the upper and middle Siwaliks geological formations of sandstones and clay at Suketi in the Sirmaur district the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The fossils are identified by the Geological Survey of India as vertebrate fossils which resided in the area about 2.5 million years ago, during a period when the region was known for the geological formations of the Shivalik system of hills.

It has also been concluded that the Shivalik Hills, which formed about twenty-five million years ago, give proof of the evolution of mankind. The mammalian fossils found in the Shiwaliks of this park are one of the world’s richest antiquities.

Mohan Shakti National Park

Located on the foothills of the Himalayas, Mohan Shakti National Park is one of the most picturesque picnic spots you’ll visit in Himachal Pradesh. The Park is situated amidst thick oak trees and terraced gardens. Being situated on the foot hills, the park offers some amazing and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

The Park contains several temples and sculptures of various Hindu deities reminiscent of Akshardham temple in Delhi. Mohan Park is managed by the Mohan Meakin Brewries but one needs to be careful as the road leading to the park is steep and dangerous, so only if one can drive downhill, should one visit the place in the car. Also make sure you bring some eatables and drinking water .

Karol Tibba

Karol Tibba along with the adjoining Meteol Tibba is one of the most famous attractions at Solan. The names refer to two peaks located in the Himalayas. The peaks are frequently visited picnic spots that can be accessed through a fairly easy trek trail via Chail and can only be viewed from Solan. Karol Tibba also houses places of immense historical and religious importance, a cave in the Himalayas that was believed to be inhibited by the Pandavas during their exile in the Mahabharatha.

Bon Monastery

Bon monastery in Solan is the second oldest Bon monastery in the world. The monastery is highly revered by the people of the Bon community. The Bon community is even older than the Buddhist community though the principles are the same. Perched on a hill top, the Bon monastery offers picturesque views of the town and snow-capped mountains. The monastery is a grand spectacle, boasting manicured gardens and an impressive statue of Tonpa Shenrab Miwoche. The monastery was founded in 1969 by the Abbopt Lungtog Tenpai Nyima. The chief of the monastery is Menri Trizin. People participate in religious ceremonies and it is also a ritual to walk in

Kasauli Brewery

Kasauli Brewery was established in 1820s and predates the town of Kasauli which was established later. The brewery was established by Edward Dyer who brought the equipment from Britain during the time when the area was occupied by the British east India Company. There are large number of visitors who used to visit Kasauli Brewery and search out for the best luxury resorts with view in Kasauli as they always look for the best experience.
